“Heartbeat” Song

A few weeks ago I was having a very difficult day. A lot of things I was expecting didn’t work out. I was feeling disconnected from other people, but more importantly, I was feeling distant from God.

I knew He was with me. I just couldn’t feel Him anymore. I began to cry out asking Him why He seemed so far away. I told Him that I just wanted to hear the beating of heart again.

The following is the song I wrote in the midst of my heart cries. As I was singing it I could hear His heartbeat resounding in my spirit.  Today, If you are feeling distant from the Lord, I pray that you also will hear His heartbeat as you read the lyrics.

Jesus is always, always, always there with you-even when you can’t feel Him or hear Him. But He also loves to reveal himself. Draw close to Him and listen to beating of His heart.

                     Heartbeat

Why do I feel so far away?
Why do you seem like you’re distant?
Lord, draw me close to your side.
Come and break down my resistance.

Chorus

I want to feel your heartbeat.
I want to bask in your presence.
I feel so alone, Lord.
I need your touch.
Draw me close to you.
I want to hear your heartbeat once again.

When did I erect these walls?
When did I construct these ceilings?
Come and tear down my fortress.
Release your mercy and your healing.

Chorus

I want to feel your heartbeat.
I want to bask in your presence.
I feel so alone, Lord.
I need your touch.
Draw me close to you.
I want to hear your heartbeat, once again.

Yes, I need to hear your heartbeat once again.
.
Come and tear down my fortress and wrap me in your arms of love, so I can
hear your heartbeat once again.

I hear it beating.
It’s the rhythm of your love.

I hear it beating.
It’s stirring up the passions you placed inside of me.

I hear it beating.

I hear it beating.

Yes, I can hear your heartbeat once again.

I hear you heart  Beeeeaaat!
