- It’s so easy to become complacent, but complacency is a destiny killer. It’s also an intimacy killer. Complacency keeps us from going deeper. Can you think of times in your walk with the Lord when you have been complacent? Are you complacent now?
- In John 4 Jesus told the woman at the well,“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water” (NKJV). What do you think Jesus meant when He said “the gift of God”?
- In verse 13 Jesus tells the woman “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” What does this scripture mean to you?
- If our souls (minds, wills, and emotions) are satisfied, will we continue to run to the things of the world trying to satisfy our thirst? How could being aware that there is a fountain of living water springing up in you to satisfy your thirst keep you from falling into temptation? Can you give an example?
- After the woman encountered Jesus, she ran to tell the whole town. Her soul thirst was satisfied. Her new spiritual thirst was for everyone to know Jesus. Are you thirsty for others to know Christ, the Hope of Glory!
- In verse 24 Jesus says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” What does it mean to worship God in spirit and in truth?
- What do you think about this statement? When we are in relationship with Christ our souls should be satisfied, but our spirits should always long for more –stay thirsty?
- What would it look like for your spirit to stay thirsty?
