Independence

On July 4, 1776, the thirteen original Colonies claimed their independence from England-an event which led to the formation of the United States.

Over 2000 years ago, Jesus died on a cross to give us independence from death, hell, and the grave- an event which restored our relationship to the Father and gave us access to eternal life with Him ( if we choose to believe).

True independence is total dependence on God.

We have freedom as a nation because brave men and women were willing to sacrifice. We have access to freedom for our souls because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice.

On July 4, 1776, Congress approved the Declaration of Independence-a document that declared freedom for a new nation. In the Garden of Eden God made a Declaration of Independence when he told the serpent ( the devil) ” and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heal” Genesis 3:15 (KJV).

God is the author of freedom. We have freedom as a nation because freedom was in the hearts of our Founding Fathers. The same freedom is in the heart of our Heavenly Father.

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” John 8:36 (NKJV).

This Forth of July, as we spend time with friends and family and watch the sky light up with brilliant colors, may we celebrate both our country and the cross.

Have an amazing Forth of July!

Be abundantly blessed!
